VICE CHAIR INTRODUCTION - EMMA WU

Image
Hi delegates! My name is Emma Wu (she/her), and I will be one of your UNEP vice chairs.  I’m a first year student majoring in Economics and minoring in Climate Science. I’m especially excited to be a part of the UNEP committee because it matches my academic interests. I hope to eventually work in the field of climate law, and I love discussing the actions we can take to mitigate climate change.  I’m from Chattanooga Tennessee, so I never got an opportunity to participate in BMUN as a high schooler. However, I did participate in other MUN conferences, and in my junior year, I ran an international MUN conference named ISMUN.  Outside of BMUN I’m a part of Cal Mock Trial. Fun fact: I can cry on command, and I play sad witnesses for my team. I hope to go to law school, so please come talk to me if that’s something you’re interested in as well! I look forward to meeting all of you! Emma

Hey everyone!! My name is KOHSEI YASHIRO and I will be your head chair for the BMUN 71's United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). I am very excited to be able to discuss some of the topics I am deeply passionate about. My vice chairs will be posting their introductions too so please check those out! I am a 4th year majoring in Environmental Economics and Policy here at UC Berkeley. This is my second time chairing the UNEP committee albeit once online. I love learning about environmental problems, and climate change mitigation/adaptation. These two topics are very pressing and issues that we will inevitably be dealing with over generations.  After graduation, I am planning to work in finance back in my home country, Japan, to hopefully work for ESG-related products. Climate change and the environment are no longer the problems of the future but rather problems of the present. Our generation will be responsible for not only saving future generations but the current generat

VICE CHAIR INTRODUCTION - SAMEER AMEEN

Hello! My name is Sameer Ameen and I'm one of your vice-chairs. I'm a second-year intending to do a simultaneous degree in Society & Environment and Rhetoric. I founded the MUN club at my school in the middle of the pandemic and am very excited to be a part of BMUN and its community. I was born in Los Angeles to two immigrant parents from Bangladesh and have traveled to many countries around the world, witnessing firsthand the different cultures and political spheres discussed in MUN conferences. Outside of BMUN, I spend most of my time listening to music, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and finding good food here in the Bay area.  UNEP is a special committee because it discusses the most prevalent issue in our global community today. The health of the environment decides the fate of our only habitable planet. I am excited to hear all the solutions you come up with!
